JOHANN SCHMIDT
LANDSCAPE DESIGNER
STEP 1
Meeting 1 - Initial Consultation
We arrange for a mutually suitable time to meet – preferably at the site. This meeting typically takes about 60 – 90 minutes, which gives us plenty of time to talk through the important aspects of your dream. This allows us to get to know one another and gives me insight into of your lifestyle, likes and dislikes; as well as the character architecture of your setting.
There is a fixed fee of $120.00 for this consultation. However, if you decide to engage my design services within 30 days of the initial consultation, this amount will be credited toward my design fees. Regardless of your decision after the initial consultation, you will receive a comprehensive site analysis, including very handy information on the local climate and factors that may impact on the design.
I will send you a questionnaire before this meeting, which you (and others involved in this process – such as your family or business associates) fill out and return to me. Having studied your responses will ensure I arrive at the meeting with some crucial background and the meeting will be much more productive.
Prepare Site Analysis and Fee Proposal
Based on our discussion at the initial consultation, I will prepare:
-
a client brief (This is a summary of my understanding of your requirements and other things we have discussed).
-
a site analysis, detailing factors that may impact on the design.
-
a fee proposal for you to consider. This fee proposal will be determined by your requirements and factors such as site characteristics and complexity of the design. This fee may include various options you may consider. The options available to you include a basic top view plan, with details of a planting plan and position of hardscapes, plus any combination of the following options:
-
a full 3D plan with a walk through video
-
a report with detailed information on any structures, plants, site preparation, feeding, pruning and other maintenance requirements
-
an irrigation design
-
a lighting design
-
any liaison services with third parties, if you prefer not to do this liaison yourself.
